The D4 descender has a 360° rotating handle that allows for very precise control of speed on descent.
This rotation is accompanied by audible clicks that help the user position it correctly. It is made of aluminum and coated with a material that improves its grip for greater comfort. The D4 is also equipped with two levels of safety. The first is the anti-panic function which stops the descent immediately when the user lowers the handle too suddenly. The second is the automatic stop when the user lets go of the handle. In addition, the descender is locked by a metal button to make it impossible to open it unintentionally when ascending on a rope.

The D4 has a rated load of 240kg (529lb), making it a true Work/ Rescue Descenders. It is not necessary to build in additional friction to achieve these loads, although it can be useful to do so, for an even higher degree of control in Belay applications. The minimum user weight is 60kg.
